1. Carbon dioxide extinguisher- being heavier than oxygen it covers oxygen and cuts off air supply to the burning substance and cools the burning substance below ignition temperature.
2.Water-Cools burning substance below ignition temperature. .water gets heated to firm vapour which covers oxygen and cuts off oxygen supply hence,extinguishing the fire.
3.Sand-Cools the burning substance hence extinguishing the fire.
