Modern media is an effect of globalisation, the ability to distribute information in one country to the rest of the world. It can relay messages of help, progress, disaster and many other details to a massive audience. The world is integrated through media; people no longer feel alienated from incidents in other countries because the media highlights the fact that 3rd world devastation, famine, disasters and poverty are very real, ongoing concerns. However the media is often controlled very tightly, many news companies distort news with the hopes of manipulating a reaction from the masses.
