QGames and sports are part and parcel of our life. We can miss our meals but we cannot miss our sports. The value of games and sports is too much. We play the game as true player. It is not our aim to win a sport by foul means, we must play a fair game. Sports teach us cooperation, sportsmanship, team spirit and discipline.There cannot be two opinions whether sports should be compulsory in schools. Of course there are some who still feel that sports are in schools are a waste. They feel also that the sports has a corrupting influence. They may be correct because they might have seen in the morning papers ugly scene taking on the field. True, there are riots sometimes over the decision of referee/umpire.

 

The aim of sports in school is not only to create champions but also to train the body and the mind of youngsters. The sports events must be looked upon as a compliment to the class work. If the class teaching can develop mental skill than sports can also develop physical skills.Many things can be done only on field. The spirit of play is there in children and they like to take part in sports and games.By taking part in games, children keep themselves away from undesirable things. So, sports must be made compulsory in schools

In a world where religion and race cause rivalry and war, sport brings us something that nothing else even comes close to giving us, peace and unity. Whether it is locally, nationally or worldwide we all come together to socialise and appreciate sport, as well as the enjoyment and excitement we get from it. Sport creates teamwork, which makes us work together and look past skin colour, gender, race, religion, flaws and imperfections because we are in it together.  

Sport is a language that people all over the world can speak. There are little or no communication barriers when it comes to sport. For many people it is seen as just a game, but it is so much more. The whole world, white and black come together as one to sing, dance and celebrate over the delirious celebration. Sport creates teamwork, strength, friendships, love, rivalry, competition, growth, endurance, passion, motivation, determination, desire, inspiration, triumph and honour. Things we as people strive to achieve in everyday life and much more.  

For example, The Olympics brings the whole world together. The Olympic flag has a symbol of the coloured rings, representing the worlds’ different continents. It is a wonderful event that brings us all together to celebrate in harmony and for one pivotal moment it brings the world together. The best athletes in the world represent the flag, culture, history, religion and beliefs of their motherland. They stand in front of everyone and are proud to be who they are. The Olympics does not necessarily cease war when it starts, but it helps everyone that little bit more to come together in peace and harmony.  

The Special Olympics is also a great example of all kinds of people with different disadvantages coming together but looking beyond them and having the determination to succeed. “It’s not the disability that defines you, it is how you deal with the challenges the disability presents you with. We have an obligation to the abilities we DO have, not the disability.” Jim Abbott.  

Let’s take a look at football. Football in particular, also known as ‘the world game’ is the most global sport. It possess’ extreme power to unite people of all origins, filling stadiums all over the world, bringing audiences from all over the globe to the television set.  

Many of the worlds, greatest footballers came from extremely disadvantaged or poor backgrounds. Cristiano Ronaldo for example, who came the worlds’ most expensive footballer, came from an extremely poor Catholic background. He had no toys and he shared a room with his brother and sister. He was expelled from school and by the age of 14 he agreed with his mother that he would focus entirely on football. Ronaldo and other footballers who came from ridiculously poor backgrounds, that are now some of the greatest footballers in the world, looked up to their idols and pushed themselves to be something. This gives disadvantaged children all over the world hope. It gives them something to hunger after, poor or not. Sport unites them when other things like money and education might divide them.  

Even though sport unites us to divide us in a sense, there is a lot of unity in the ‘world game’. In a game of football, if a player gets injured most teams will put the ball aside or out of play as a mark of respect. Even though two teams are against each other on the pitch, everyone is united. Or if a player plays really well or scores a ridiculously good goal, usually they would receive a standing ovation from both sets of supporters. A lot of players wear anti-racism bands at different games too. Whether you are rich or poor, black or white, male or female, football is football.  

The spirit of sports gives each of us who participate an opportunity to be creative. Sport knows no sex, age, race or religion. Sport gives us all the ability to test ourselves mentally, physically and emotionally in a way no other aspect of life can. For many of us who struggle with ‘fitting in’ or our identity – sport gives us our first face of confidence. That first bit of confidence can be a gateway to many other great things!” Dan O’Brien.

Sport brings us all together to achieve the same goal. Whether it is a friendly or a competition we are all out for the same reason. We want to be a part of the sport, the world, the atmosphere, and the people. It gives us a sense of not being alone. Being appreciated for who you are and where you’re from. It builds a strong united front. Everyone is united and all in it for the same reason – Everyone wants to play the game. Nobody wants to play alone
