Given :- parallel sides of a trapezium shaped field is 20Cm and 80m these sides meet the 3rd side at right angle the length of fourth side is 90m .

To Find :- if the rate of ploughing the field is rs 5 per metre square find the total cost of ploughing the field ?

Answer :-

Since parallel sides of a trapezium cuts the 3rd side at right angled ∆, using pythagoras theorem we get,

→ Height of trapezium = √[(fourth side)² - (Difference of parallel sides)²] = √[(90)² - (80 - 20)²] = √(8100 - 3600) = √4500 = 30√5 m .

then,

→ Area of trapezium = (1/2) * sum of parallel sides * height .

putting values we get,

→ Area of trapezium = (1/2) * (80 + 20) * 30√5 = 50 * 30√5 = 1500√5 m² .

therefore,

→ Total cost of ploughing the field = Rate / m² * Area of trapezium = 5 * 1500√5 = 7500√5 = 7500 * 2.24 = Rs.16800 (Ans.)
