PART 1:

The layout of information within a written work is called text structure. Understanding text structure by recognizing the pattern in which information is organized helps the reader decipher the document more clearly. Traditionally, text structure includes central concept and specifics; agent and response; and/or contrasting perspectives on that subject. There are five common text structures popularly used in an educational or prose document. They are namely description, sequence, cause and effect, compare and contrast, and problem and solution.  

PART 2:

Gumption mainly follows a descriptive text structure that gives room for pragmatic character voices.  This kind of writing helps the reader create meaningful images of the places and characters in the story.  It is mainly used when the author wants to focus on one particular aspect of their creation. To Build a Fire follows a sequential structure keeping the reader suspensful and excited about what comes next. It does not though gurantee to describe processes that occur in a specific time or place.
