Answer:2 gm

Explanation:

Total pressure at S.T.P =1atm

Given that partial pressure of CH4 gas =0.5atm

PCH4+PHe=1, PHe=1-PCH4=1-0.5=0.5 atm.

Total pressure=1atm

PHe=0.5

PHe=PT×XHe

=PT×nHe/nHe+nCH4

At stp total mole number equals to 1 (ie nCH4+nHe=1)

Therefore PHe=PT×nHe

0.5= 1×wt of He/Gmw of He

0.5=wt of He/4

Wt of He=0.5×4=2gm
