Answer:

Passive voice can only be made out out the sentences which are part of “Tenses”. Means, the sentences which contain some verb (in addition to an auxiliary verb such as is/am/are/has/have/was/were/had etc…).

In other words we can say that only those sentences in which some action or work is taking place, come under the category of “Tenses”.

For example:

You are my brother.

He had a beautiful house.

My father is a doctor.

The boys were very naughty.

In all the above sentences, no action or work is taking place. So these can’t be converted into active/passive voices.

Now see these sentences:

He is reading a book.

My father drives a car.

What she is doing?

In the above sentences some action or work is being done so these sentences can be converted into passive voice.

In the similar way, in the present sentence “What is your name”, no work or action is visible. So this sentence can’t be converted into active or passive voice
