Pectoral and pelvic girdle help in the articulation of upper and lower limbs respectively.

Pectoral girdle and Pelvic girdle:

  • Pectoral girdle is present in shoulder region and thorax region, whereas pelvic girdle is present in lower abdomen.
  • Pectoral girdle is composed of "two bones *2 = 4 bones", where the names are two scapulae and two clavicles. Whereas pelvic girdle is formed of "three bones *2=6 bones" namely ilium ischium and pubis.
  • Pectoral girdle gives attachment to humerus whereas, pelvic girdle gives rise to femur.
  • Pectoral girdle attaches with thoracic and upper limb muscles whereas pelvic girdle gives attachment to lower abdominal and lower limb muscles.
