Yes, penguins do have thick blubber under their skin. Brown Fat or Blubber is used as insulating layer to prevent loss of heat.

Other features:

1)Penguins are flightless birds.

2)Penguins have a tapering body(on both ends). They have a large head, short neck and long body.
