as it was discovered by accident we can say because the Alexander Flemming was working in his lab with certain microorganisms and he observed that at some places there was a growth of mould ,and at those regions bacterias weren't able to grow around. so he thought that the mould might have secreted some chemicals that might have stopped the growth of microbes and this mould was penicillin, so the discovery of penicillin was as follows
