Solution:- It is given that pens are sold in packs of 8 and not paid are sold in packs of 12.

Required number of equal pens and notepads for least number of packs of each type is the LCM of 8 and 12.

Now,

8 = 2 × 2 × 2

12 = 2 × 2 × 3

LCM = 2 × 2 × 2 × 3

Hence, least number of packs of pens

= 24/8

= 3

[Least number of packs of pens = 3 packs]

and least number of packs of notepads

= 24/12

= 2

[Least number of packs of notepads = 2 packs]
