People had easier access to books novel by 1740. It is done because of various reasons. There are many libraries started in the year 1740. It can be considered as an ideal way for general public to gain access to the books.

The new innovations in the printing process and also new innovations in the marketing process helped to increase the sales as well as reduce the price range.

Answer:

People had "easier access" to books and novel by 1740 as this year saw the advent of circulating libraries. This way the common masses now had better accessibility to this reading material. Also with the coming of new technology in the printing presses and distribution, the rate of the books decreased while simultaneously the sale increased. Before this, novels were expensive and thus couldn’t be easily accessed by the low income families.
