Harrapn and Mohan jo daro are ancient cities which existed 4700 years ago in the period of Indus Valley Civilization. These cities thrived around the river Indus and hence the historians named it Indus Valley Civilization. The cities show a high order of planning both architecturally as well as in the techniques and lifestyle. The roads were bricked as they made baked bricks which were used in buildings and Great Baths. The roads crossed at an intersection and drains were well planned and covered with inspection holes at some intervals. The walls and floors were protected with some natural tar. It is believed that the baths were used for religious ceremonies. The Harappa city was divided into two parts, the Western part was smaller and higher. People of royalties lived there. The Eastern part was larger and lower, where common workers lived. They used metals like copper and bronze for making tools, weapons and gold and silver to make ornaments. The use of cloth and spindles have also been verified. The ruins of these cities were excavated and they existed in the present Pakistan. Some of the cities of the civilization are also in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
