Percy and Annabeth fall into Tartarus. It was in the third book of Heroes of Olympus (the Mark of Athena) that they fell into Tartarus.
After trying for so long, and losing every hope to escape Tartarus, Percy and Annabeth are rescued by Damasen, son of Gaea and Tartarus. Damasen along with Bob the Titan holds off Tartarus so Percy and Annabeth can escape through the Doors of Death to the mortal side.
