The Carbon monoxide has a very bond dissociation energy ,strongest of any neutral molecule 11.65 eV. ... Since four of shared of the electrons come from oxygen atom and only two from carbon ,one bonding orbital is occupied by two electrons from oxygen, forming a dative or dipolar bond.
