Now substituting value of equation (1) in equation (2) we get,

(20 - B) B = 100

20 B - B² = 100

B² -20 B +100 =0

B² -10 B - 10 B +100 = 0

B(B - 10) - 10(B - 10) =0

B- 10 = 0

B = 10 cm ...................(3)

Substituting value of (3) in equation (1) we get,

L= 20 - 10

L = 10 cm

so perimeter = 2(l + b)
• 2(l + b) = 40
• (l + b) = 20
•l = 20 - b ..........(1)
also area = length × breadth
• l × b = 100
• (20 - b) × b = 100 (putting value of l from (1))
