Perimeter of a rectangle and a square are equal. If length and breadth of the rectangle are 20 cm and 16 cm, find the difference between area of the rectangle and the square.

Answer:

Perimeter of rectangle = perimeter if square

2(l+b) = 4*side

2(20+16)=4*side

72 =4*side

side= 18cm

Hence the side of square is 18cm

now area of rectangle = l*b = 20*16=320cm²

and area of square =side * side =18*18 =324cm²

difference in area = 324 -320 =4cm²
