Perimeter of a rectangle is 170cm. Find its length and breadth if length is 5cm more than the breadth

Solution:

let breadth be 'x'

then length = x + 5

Given that,

perimeter of the rectangle = 170cm

Perimeter of rectangle formula

= 2(l+b)

170 = 2(x+5+x)

170/2 = 2x + 5

85 = 2x + 5

85-5 = 2x

80 = 2x

80/2 = x

40 = x

therefore, breadth of rectangle = 40

length of the rectangle = x+5

= 40+5 = 45
