perimeter =860 m,i.e, p=2(l + b)-------equation 1

length is four times breadth, i.e. l=4b-------equation 2

Substitute value of l in equation 1,

2(4b+b)=860

10b=860

b=86 m

therefore b=86m

l=4*86=344m

Let the breadth of the rectangle be x m and length be ( x + 4 )m ,

Given, Perimeter of the rectangle = 860 m

2( length + breadth ) = 860 m

x + ( x + 4 ) = 430 m

x + x + 4 = 430 m

2x + 4 = 430 m

x + 2 = 215 m

x = 213 m

Hence,

Breadth = x m = 213 m

length = ( x + 4 )m = ( 213 + 4 ) m = 217 m
