In the above diagram calculate the areas of the triangles ABD and BDC using the below formula.

$area \: of \: a \: triangle = \sqrt{s(s -a) (s -b) (s - c)}$

where

$s = (a + b + c) \div 2$

then add the areas of both triangles.
