the distance at both people will meet is 4.6 km

step by step explanation

the point at which both people meet is found by using the formula

Tan (θ) = perpendicular/base

Tan (30°) = x/8=4.6 km

this is because the person traveled  8 km to south and then making and angle of 30° turned north

distance traveled by the person b is found out as

Cos (θ) = base/ hypotenuse

Cos (60°) = 4.6/y=9.2 km

13.8 km is the total distance traveled by person b but he traveled 4.6 km before he turned north
