solution : Let distance between a and b is L
then, time taken by person X to move from a to b, t1 = L/30 hrs
again, time taken by person X to move from b to a, t2 = L/60 hrs.
so, total time taken = t1 + t2
= (L/30 + L/60) hrs.
and total distance covered by person X = (L + L) = 2L
now average speed = total distance/total time taken
= (2L)/(L/30 + L/60)
= (2 × 30 × 60)/(30 + 60)
= (60 × 60)/(90)
= 40 km/h
we know, 1 km/h = 5/18 m/s
so, 40 km/h = 40 × 5/18 = 100/18
= 5.55 m/s
= 0.555 × 10¹ m/s
hence, in place of dash, 0.555 should be placed.
