Perspiration is one of the thermoregulation mechanisms that help maintain the normal average body temperature at a constant range.

EXPLANATION:

The average body temperature ranges from '36.5 to 37.5' degrees Celsius. When the surrounding temperature rises than the normal body temperature and in order to prevent from excessive heating, the sympathetic nervous system activates the sweat glands to produce sweat through vasodilation.

This sweat is then evaporated through the body surface and heat is transferred through sweat to the surrounding environment. With the loss of heat, the body cools down. When the body is cooled enough, the sweat glands stop producing sweat and the mechanism stops, thus maintaining a constant temperature.
