Petiole allows leaves to flutter thereby cooling it. Why do the leaves need to be cooled?

it produces a cooling effect on the surface on the leaf so.....

look transpiration takes place from the leaves leaving behind some moisture on the leaf.The leaf should be dried to allow further transpiration or it will prevent further transpiration.While drying it produces a cooling effect on the leaf of the plant
