In stomach 3 things are released- mucus from neck cell, proenzyme pepsinogen from peptic orchief cell and HCl from parietal or oxyntic cell. HCl released activate pepsinogen to pepsin which breakdown the protein. Due to this hcl, pH of stomach become 1.8 which helps pepsin to act on protein.

In intestines , intestinal juice are released from 3 duct - bile, pancreatic and intestinal. Bile duct released bile verden and biletrubin which help pH to become more basic (7.8). Also mucus and bicarbonate are present which helps to maintain this ph.

As we know our stomach produces Hydrochloric Acid. It helps in the digestion of food without harming our stomach.

You must have observed that many people complain acidity in the stomach.

Reason :- During indigestion, the stomach produces too much acid and this causes pain and irritation and feeling of burning too. This stage is called Acidity..

To take relief from this pain we take tablets known as antacids. these contain bases to neutralise the excess acids. Person suffering from acidity are also advised to take cold milk which is alkaline.
