pH = -log[H+]. If [H+]=10^-1, then pH=1. pH ranges from 0-14. That means a compound has minimum 10^-14 ions. Why is it so? Why can't a compound have [H+]ions less than10^-14?

Answer:

Because the compound is base. The pH of base is from 7.1-14 and 14 is strong and 7.1 is weak.
