Explanation:
I’d like to tell you what I would do with a million dollars, with the credibility of someone who actually has a million dollars. (Actually I have a little over three). Unfortunately, this means I have to be anonymous, which may damage the credibility anyway. Take it as you will.
My wife and I are in our late forties, with 3.2 million dollars. We earned it from two decades working in professional careers. We kept it by living quietly and frugally. And we grew it by investing under the guidance of a financial advisor.
I don’t know what kinds of things people imagine they would do with a million dollars, but I assume that most have some kind of list of things they would buy. Well, it’s not like that at all. Having stuff is the obsession of the financially insecure class.
Having stuff is boring, because you just sort of —well, have it. Rich people like myself prefer to do stuff. Here’s the weird part: doing stuff is incredibly cheap.
Here’s an example of what I mean: Every year we go on a one-week cruise. This year we went to the Mexican Riviera. We didn’t get the top-deck balcony, because that’s just having stuff (and only for a short while!). So we got a modest little cabin that we could crash in when we need to sleep. At other times we were doing stuff, and we had a great time. We sat on the beach eating shrimp, we hiked on the beaches, and we ate fine food. When the whole thing was done, we had blown $8,000 on the whole trip. Think about that: $8000 is less than 1% of a million dollars.

"I have always wanted to help people in need, and by God's grace I can do it now. That is something I will really do," he said.
His wife, a logistics support staff, said she could not believe the news.
"I was dump-founded when I got the call from my husband. First I thought he was playing the same prank I had planned on him," she said.
"Now that he has won the jackpot, I will let him figure out what he wants to do with it. He is after all a business development manager and would know better how to manage his funds," she said.
Eight Indians were among 10 people who had won dhirham 1 million (USD 2.7 lakh) each in a mega raffle draw in Abu Dhabi in October last year.
In August, an Indian man had won dhirham 5 million (USD 1.3 million) in the draw in the UAE.
