phosphoric acid on heating to 525 and 875k yields meta phosphoric acid

Reaction: H3PO4———— HPO3+H2O (H3PO4 is a diprotic acid)

when we heat the phosphoric acid to 600 degrees we get phosphorus pentaoxide where condensation takes place along with dehydration, since the intermediate stage i.e meta phosphoric acid is a strong dehydrating agent.

Reaction: 2H3PO4————-P2O5+3H2O
