Solution:-
First of all you need to make a free body diagram of it.(See the attached file)
Note:- In figure N refers to normal, 10N refers to 10 Newton and T refers to tension.
For 1 kg,
Fnet=mg
=> 10N+T=ma
=> T=a-10 ...(i)
For 2kg,
Fnet=ma
=> T+mg=ma
=> T+20=2a
=> T=2a-20 ....(ii)
Since, it is not given that rope has mass or not. Hence, we are supposing it massless.
Thus, if rope is massless then we will apply same rope is equal to same tension.
Hence,
Equation (i) will equal to equation (ii)
a-10=2a-20
=> a=10 m/s²
Therefore, our answer is 10 m/s².
