Physical properties of water 》》》
1. In the pure state, water has a neutral Ph.
This means that pure water is neither acidic nor basic in nature. Its Ph changes only when certain substances are added to it.
2. Water has a very high specific heat. It can absorb huge amounts of heat in rising temperatures. So it is used as a good cooling agent in various purposes.
3. Water in liquid state can be taken as a universal solvent.
4. Water is the only substance in our earth which is present in all the three physical states i.e., solid, liquid and gas on the earth surface, naturally.
5. Water has a very high surface tension. It is adhesive and elastic.
Chemical properties of water 》》》
1. Water is made up of a simple atomic structure consisting of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom in each molecule.
2. When water makes any physical change then its molecules arrange themselves in distinctly different patterns.
3. Water has the unique property of anomalous expansion. It is only found in water. Below 4°C , the volume of water increases and density decreases.
