Corporal Punishment means physical torture. This could be in form of beating, canning or even whipping. Making a student kneel down or stand for times, pinching and slapping are all set to be banned. The corporal punishment has been in the norm in the several parts of the country for teaching the right attitude to children, who do not do well in studies. Reports can be seen every now and then which reveals that sometimes the punishment is so harsh that it amounts to cruelty. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has suggested a code of regulations on the conduct of teachers in school and colleges. However, enforcing it through corporal punishment it highly objectionable and rather inhuman. This is not the right technique to discipline a student. A teacher is required to deal with his/her students patiently advising and guiding him/her to excel in every sphere of life such as academics, sports, music, and other extra-curricular activities. Corporal punishment or inflicting any kind of physical pain is not only lawfully but morally as well. Students look up to their teachers and thus when they see such injustice happening over small issues, their mind set changes. Hence this is a bad practice should be totally banned. Anyone found guilty of such an act should be withdrawn from interaction with students, Students need a kind and caring heart that understands them not a hand that beats them.
