Physical significance of eigenvalue in quantum mechanics

Eigenvalues are values that remain same on linear transformation.. As quantum mechanics is linear some values remain same if you transform the solutions..(you should read a bit about linearity) but in quantum mechanics mainly energy eigenstates are used that remain same on transformation and are used in the calculations..
