Side of the square = 10m

Perimeter of the square = 4*10 = 40m

He completes one round in 40 secs,

So, Speed = 40/40 = 1m/s

So, distance covered in 2 min and 20 secs or 140 secs is = 140*1 = 140m

No of rounds of the square completed in moving through 140m is = 140/40 = 3.5 rounds.

In 3 round the displacement is 0, In 0.5 round the farmer reaches the diagonally opposite end of the square from his starting point.

Therefore, Displacement = sqrt(100+100) = 10sqrt2 m.
