Kinematics is the branch of physics which deals with the state of object , whether an object is in rest or motion.
1. An object is said to be in motion if it change its position with respect to time and surrounding.
2. An object is said to be in rest if it doesn't change its position with time.
But actually all this depends on frame of reference or you can say observer.
For example, a guy sitting in bus is in rest for his fellow citizens, but is in motion for those standing outside the moving bus.
