1.1) IN SERIES

Let the equivalent resistance be Req

Req = R1 + R2 + R3

1.2) IN parallel

Req = 1/R1 + 1/R2

2)

We know that p = v²/R

Where p is power consumption , v is potential and R is resistance.

For maximum power Req must be less.

Req is less in case of parallel combination = 1/3 ohm

So, p1 = 9 × 3

For minimum power Req must be maximum

Req is maximum in case of series = 24ohm

so, p2 = 9 /24

So,

P1/p2 = 72:1
