Physiological significance of Sahli haemoglobinometer:

The estimation of hemoglobin through Sahli’s method requires the following equipments,

Sahli haemoglobinometer:

  • Sahli’s haemoglobinometer comparator .
  • Sahli haemoglobinometer tube .
  • Sahli’s pipette or hemoglobin pipette.
  • Glass dropper .
  • Glass rod for stirring .

The tube is graduated and marked in ascending order on the both sides. One side shows the grams per 100 ml whereas the opposite sides show the percentage value. For 100% it is 14.5 gm%. Due to such apparatus design it is considered significant for hemoglobin calculation.
