Pipe A along with a hole can fill a tank in 20 minutes, pipe B along with hole can fill that tank in 1 hour. If both the pipes along with hole can fill that tank in (60/7) minutes, then what is the time taken by hole alone to empty that tank completely?

A) 25 minutes
B) 30 minutes
C) 15 minutes
D) 20 minutes

Answer:

pipe A=20 min B=60 min

Lcm of both=60

efficiency of each =60/time

efficiency A=60/20=3

efficiency B=60/60=1

both the pipes can fill in 60/3+1=15 mins

The time taken by all 3 is incorrect bcs 60/7 =~8.5min

which is less then 2 pipes together but it should be more that 15 mins as holes takes out water thus increasing time.

but as per question A+B+hole=7

hole=7-3-1=3 so hole has fills tank in 20 min rather then empting it.
