pipe a can fill a tank in 10 minutes in which pipe b alone can empty it in 12 minutes in how many minutes that tank will be filled if both the taps are opened together​

Answer :-

Pipe A and Pipe B together can fill the tank in 60 minutes.

Explanation :-

Pipe A can fill a tank in 10 minutes

So part of of tank filled by pipe A in 1 minute = 1/10

Pipe B can fill a tank in 12 minutes

So part of of tank filled by pipe B in 1 minute = 1/12

We know that

Part of tank filled by pipe A and B in 1 minute = Part of tank filled by pipe A in 1 minute + Part of tank filled by pipe B in 1 minute

= (1/10) + (1/12)

Taking LCM

= (6 - 5)/60

= 1/60

i.e Part of tank filled by pipe A and B in 1 minute = 1/60

So Pipe A and Pipe B together can fill the tank in 60 minutes.

Given:

Pipe A can fill a tank in 10 minutes in which pipe B alone can empty it in 12 minutes.

To find:

How many minutes that tank will be filled if both the taps are opened together.

Solution:

Pipe A can 1 minute fill a tank=1/10

Pipe B alone can 1 minute fill a tank= 1/12.

Therefore,

Pipe A & pipe B filled with together;

 =  >  \frac{1}{10}  -  \frac{1}{12}  \\  \\  =  >  \frac{6 - 5}{60}  \\  \\   =  >  \frac{1}{60}  \: minutes

Thus,

Filled pipe both A & B taken 60 minutes.
