The tank will be full at 12:36 p.m.

Step-by-step explanation:

Pipe a can fill the tank in 8 hours

Pipe A 1 hour work =\frac{1}{8}

Pipe b can fill it in 12 hours

Pipe B 1 hour work =\frac{1}{12}

Pipe A and pipe B together can do part of work in 1 hour = \frac{1}{8}+\frac{1}{12}=\frac{3+2}{24}=\frac{5}{24}

pipe a is opened at 7:00 am and pipe b is opened at 9:00 am

9 a.m. - 7 a.m. = 2 hours

So, Pipe A 2 hours =\frac{2}{8}

So, remaining work = 1-\frac{2}{8}=\frac{6}{8}

Pipe A and B can do\frac{5}{24}work in hours = 1

Pipe A and B can do\frac{6}{8}work in hours = \frac{\frac{6}{8}}{\frac{5}{24}}=3.6 hours

So, 9 a.m.+3.6 hours = 12:36 p.m.

Hence the tank will be full at 12:36 p.m.
