Step-by-step explanation:

Let the tank be filled up in x hours.

Pipe a can fill a tank in 10 hours

Thus amount filled by pipe a is x/10

Pipe b can empty it in 15 hours

Amount emptied by pipe b is x/15

When the tank become full, means 100% the equation can be debited as :

x/10 - x/15 = 100% or 100/100

(3x - 2x)/30 = 100/100

x /30 = 100/100

100x = 30 ×100

x = 3000/100

x = 30 hours

Thus the tank could be filled up in 30 hours

Answer the tank could be completely filled up in 30 hours
