Given:

  • Angle x = 70°
  • Angle y = ?

To Find:

  • The value of angle y such that line L ║ line M

Solution:

If we assume Line L and Line M to be parallel, then the angles 'x' and 'y' can be called to be co-interior angles.

According to geometry of parallel lines and angles, co-interior lines are always supplementary. This means that the sum of their angle measures equal 180°. Using that property we get:

⇒ ∠x + ∠y = 180°

⇒ 70° + ∠y = 180°

⇒ ∠y = 180° - 70°

⇒ ∠y = 110°

Hence the value of Angle y should be 110° for lines L and M to be parallel.

Hence Option (B) is correct.

Given Data :

∠x = 70°

L || m

To Find :

∠y = ?

Solution :

angle x and angle y are present in a same straight line n.

That shows, the sum of the angles is 180°

⇒ ∠x + ∠y = 180°

⇒ 70° + ∠y = 180°

⇒ ∠y = 180° - 70°

⇒ ∠y = 110°

hence, option (b) ∠y = 110° is the correct answer
