x + x2 =156
x2 +x -156 =0
x2 +1 3x - 12x -156 =0
x (x +13) -12 (x +13) =0
(x+13) (x -12) =0
so , x = 12 or -13

Let the number be x and x²
A/Q,
=> x²+x=156
=>x²+x-156=0
Break the middle term to get -156x²
=> x²+13x-12x-156=0
=> x(x+13)-12(x+13)=0
=> (x+13)(x-12)=0

First equation=> (x+13)=0
=>x = 0-13
=> x = -13

Second equation=> (x-12)=0
=> x = 0+12
=> x= 12

So, First number = -13
second number= 12

Hope it helps you......
