He came from a Turkish family called by the name Gamini of the Ghaznavid dynasty.  

After the death of Ghazini, his son Masud attacked India and captured its territories.  

Muhammad Ghori and Qutub-ud-din Aibak were the two other Turkish invaders who came to India from Afghanistan.
