Yes, it is essential,

because trees are the source of oxygen for us.Some trees and plants like pipal, Tulsi etc. are the oxygen giving plants at night also. Due to many reasons the amount of CO2 is increasing. To decrease it we can't plant many trees at many places .Trees are also cutted for some reason of development of our country.Therefore , it is said plant a tree every month.
