The concentration of the hypertonic solution is more than that of the plant cells...

So, when it is placed in hypertonic solution, water moves out from the plant cells to the solution(from higher concentration to lower concentration) and thus, plants becomes flaccid.....

Answer:

in a hypertonic solution the water content is less in the solution and more in the plant cell, therefore due to imbalance, process of osmosis takes place and water transfers from higher concentration i.e from plant cell to lower concentration i.e to the solution

hence due to loss of water the plant cell shrinks

..

this phenomenon is also known as plasmolyis
