Plants are called green laboratories of the world as they use sunlight to synthesize food which support all other life on our planet; the process is called as photosynthesis. At various places near your school, home and on the road side, you might have observed that the leave of plants are covered with certain deposits like dust and smoke and they do not shine as green as at many other places.
Answer the following question:-
i) Identify human activities responsible for such deposits on leaves.
ii) How do these deposits affect the functioning of plants?
iii) How can we minimize such deposits?

Hello mate,

Here is your answer:-

(i)The dust and smoke coming out from vehicles and nearby factories are the most prominent reason of such dust deposits. Moreover, especially in India, people spit betle juice(paan) on these plants which adds up to the deposits.

(ii)The intensity of sunlight decreases as the leaf cannot receive much light due to these layers. So it affects rate of photosynthesis.

(iii)Decrease the amount of smoke and dust being release from factories and vehicles.Using CNG will help. While watering, water the leaves too to clean the surface.

Hope it helps.
