Here's yours answer

Plants require water for their metabolic processes. They use water to prepare glucose by the process of photosynthesis.

Also the water transpired is not wasted. It provides suction force to the plant and thus helps in trasporting food to the aerial parts of the plant. It also provides a cooling effect to the plant.

Additionally transpiration is the cause for formation of clouds and thus of rain.

Hope it helps

Answer:

Plants absorb minerals and nutrients from the soil in liquid form through Osmosis so they have to absorb much water even to take up small quantities of these nutrients. The excess of water is of no use for the plant so it gets rid of it through transpiration.
