Plastic does not conduct heat as well as iron. Give reason

They are not called plastics but are known as Polythene. Polythene comes under polymers, polymers contain a long chain of repeating monomers which are intra or inter bonded with other atoms.

Polythene or Polymers, in general, are bad conductors of heat due to the fact that they don’t have a proper structure in place, like metals which are good conductors of heat as well as of electricity have a proper crystal structure(FCC or BCC ), a solid state structure which helps in transfer of energy.
