Plastids are present only in plant cells .The work of plastids is to give green colour to plants. It is responsible for photosynthesis in plants. Therefore, there is no need of such an organ in an animal cell as animals doesn't take part in photosynthesis.

ANSWER:

Plastids are present only in plan as they are solely responsible for green colouration to plants.

EXPLANATION:

They are responsible for photosynthesis in plant. They manufacture and store the main chemical substance for plant function.

They contain chlorophyll which can perform photosynthesis and this occurs in the region called chloroplast. They contain starch, terpenes and fatty acids for energy production.

All plastids are derived from the proplastids which is found in meristematic cell. The colourless plastids are called as leucoplast, responsible for monoterpene synthesis.
