Greetings..!

Let the original salary be Rs x .

Increase = 10% = 10% of x = (10/100)*x=Rs 10x/100

So,increased salary = Original + Increase = x + 10x/100 = Rs 11x/10

According to problem,

11x/10 should be equal to new salary given (Rs 154000)

⇒11x/10=154000

⇒11x=154000*10 { transposing 10 to R.H.S}

⇒x= 1540000 ÷ 11 {transposing 11 to R.H.S}

⇒x = 140000

Answer : Hence, original salary was Rs 1,40,000.
